Crafting Whimsical Avocado Earrings: A Hand-Embroidered Delight

Hey everyone!

It's Lena here, diving into my latest creation: these super cute avocado earrings that have been turning heads. Inspired by the creamy green goodness of avocados (and maybe a toast craving?), I turned simple embroidery into wearable art. If you've been eyeing embroidered jewelry trends, this one's for you—perfectly playful and one-of-a-kind.

I started with the design sketch right on fabric scraps, outlining the avocado shape with a water-soluble pen. For the outer skin, I used perle cotton in deep green  with satin stitches for smoothnes. The pit is where the magic happens—tiny brown glass seed beads for a shiny, realistic gleam. Check out the process pic where I'm knotting those beads mid-stitch!

Materials are straightforward and accessible:

  • Wool felt base (2mm thick for structure)
  • Embroidery treads yarn in greens, brown, and yellow
  • Gold-filled hook findings (my fave for everyday wear)
  • Seed beads and embroidery needle

Once embroidered, I trimmed the shapes precisely, blanket-stitched the edges with matching green thread to prevent fraying, and attached them to the hooks. The result? Lightweight drop earrings about 2.5 cm long that sway just right. Wore them out and got compliments all day—see the selfie!

These are available in my shop now and on Etsy, or drop me a message for customs.
